We pretend that the problem is that someone else isn’t going to do the right thing, but what we really fear is that we aren’t going to do the right thing. But if we install integrity, the caliber of our highest self, it wouldn’t matter what anyone else did, or what happened at all, because we would always do the best thing, and that’s the best possible thing we can ask of ourselves. If we can trust ourselves, our reflexes, our mission, our ability to listen, to act, then we are ready for whatever comes our way. It won’t matter what that is because we’re ready to act. It’s not about everything always being perfect in the end but that we had enough options and awareness to act.
